Why Space Futures exists

We want to make space futures useful to the people shaping them: strategy teams, researchers, innovators and organisations applying space services. The starting point is a question that matters to a decision, followed by inspectable evidence and more than one possible path.

Space Futures is developed within COLIN’s work in space. It has its own platform identity and editorial purpose. Space Insights is a separate publication whose reporting may be used as an attributed source; the two brands have distinct roles.

Observe the evidence and its limits. Explore the assumptions behind different outcomes. Shape a next step that can be revisited when the evidence changes. Our dossiers and Decision Studio make that sequence practical.

Research into practice

These are exploratory questions for future work, not active projects or announced partnerships.

• How could an organisation test its connectivity dependencies before choosing a future service?
• What evidence would help a mission owner qualify an additional route to orbit?
• How could a small maritime pilot demonstrate a useful decision outcome under disrupted conditions?

A developed project would need a defined user need, delivery partners, resources and an agreed scope. This first platform provides the questions and tools from which that work could begin.

Participation at a sustainable pace

Useful contributions can begin with a source, a question or a different interpretation. This first version does not depend on a staffed forum, recurring meetings or a membership programme.
